In this tutorial you'll learn how to create a 3d book. First create a new composition. Make sure your composition is 1080 x 1920. Select okay.

Go to layer > new > solid. 

Make the colour white, then set the width and weight to 1080

Click S to view the scale property. Set the amount to 75%. Click on the target icon in the top left. Turn on snap to grid. Now you can drag your anchor point to the left side of your white solid. This is how we will form the spine of the book.
